The Carpathian region of Ukraine borders on Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.
The Carpathian mountains dominate the region with their forests, rivers, lakes, alpine meadows, towns and villages. The region is rich in culture, activity and history. It is ideal for summer holidays walking, riding, mountain climbing, exploring; for winter holidays skiing, tobogganing, or all year round just relaxing, absorbing the culture, enjoying the unique healthy air and the wide variety of spa waters.
The climate is continental. The winters are mild with an average temperature of -5° C. Summers are warm with an average temperature of +18° C. In the mountains the temperature is 3-5 degrees lower depending on the altitude, with the peaks covered in snow for up to five months of the year.
The Carpathians are considered to be the precious gem of Ukraine. It is the most popular resort and tourist centre of the country. An original nature of territory, beauty of its Alpine meadows and woods, rough rivers and mountain lakes, soft climate, curative mineral sources, the historical and architectural monuments can attract everyone to themselves. Thousands of tourists, people who like travels and adventures or simply persons which are having a rest come here from all parts of Ukraine, near and distant foreign countries. One needs his health to be improved, another - to find out new places, to get acquainted with a history of region, its ethnography, population, third searches for impressions from a unification with a nature, fourth is fond of romanticism and adventures. Even now a days glorified by the people in legends and songs Carpathian land generously shares all the best its nature has given with the visitors.
